I'm interested in getting a bigger bike (not a scooter) for long distance travel around Taiwan.

Does anyone here know where to go to get dual sport bikes (not interested in crotch rockets).

I'm thinking in the 250 - 750 range, nothing bigger. Models i'm interested in are: XR, KLX, DR and maybe something buy KTM if they sell them here. I'd probably want something geared a little lower for the when I head out onto the dirt but still capable on the street.

Do I need a driver's license or can I just use my DL from home, like people do in Thailand for example?

Try this place...

No, not the big bank building; I just stuck this map up here for a reference

Direct your gaze to Zhongshan North Road Section 5 (right side of this map), a little ways down from the Zhong Zheng and Zhongshan Intersection. If your back is to that intersection, you will see a gas station, a couple furniture shops, and a coffee shop on your right. Somewhere among them (maybe halfway between the Shilin and the Jiantan MRT stations) is a guy who's been selling the big bikes even before they were legal in Taiwan.

Then if you've got NT174,000 to blow, there's always the Venox, which you can order at any Kymco dealership. Cool

Errr, I have no clue about licensing but I bet the guys at the big bike shop can help you with that. Good luck.

I saw one of those at a red light the other day. Sweet looking ride. You'd need a real good parking space with that baby, methinks. Hard to stay below the Radar.
