Hey everyone... Have you ever been contacted by a Robert Philips through email regarding job placement in Taiwan? I was just wondering whether or not it was a reputable company/person or should I stay away from this and most recruiters? I have read the various opinions on recruiters but for nothing else wouldn't it be good for contact and information?

I was contacted by this guy by email back in March. I was wanting to get out of a bad job elsewhere so his timing was good, but that's about it. Otherwise avoid him like tuberculosis.
He placed me in a tiny shit town in southern Taiwan. He works out of Doulio city in the south so his usually makes all his placements in the southern part of the country. He will likely offer to set you up in his teacher's place. I seen that place and its pretty damn dirty and out of the way. A scooter is a necessity to get around. Trouble is you may not be up to driving among the dangerous non-law abiding traffic.
The other recruiters in Taiwn know of him and they say the same thing: Look elsewhere. He's had a history of making inappropriate placements with a lot of schools in that area. PM for more details, if you want.

Robert is not like every other recruiter so don't let the comments about him deter you from dealing with recruiters in general. There are more comments about Robert on the buxiban site than probably any other single recruiter - some of good, some of it bad. Overall though he is not one of the most highly spoken about recruiters.

You might want to try Reach to Teach or Dewey if you want to deal with a recruiter.

I should also mention that he looks like a bad Beach Boy impersonator. I'm not certain if he has the hair plugs...
