Hey everyone,
I have a few question about this......whole topic in general, of teaching in Poland. Let me start off by introducing myself. I was born in Katowice, Poland, but raised in Tarnow, Poland. Went to High School in the U.S. and am currently attending college here in the U.S. I hold dual citizenship, but consider Poland to be my homeland. I'd like to teach English in Poland, or History(in English) in Poland. I'd love Tarnow, Katowice, or Krakow.
To all that know Polish on here, this is my saying:
W PKP, Katowice-Krakow-wiecej nie zdradze
I'm completely new to this whole process, so please don't get mad at me.
Some questions that I have concerning teaching English in Poland as an American. :
1) Are there certain courses that I have to take in college to get a certificate of some sort?
2) Is it worth it?
3) Is the job stable: benefits, insurance provider, how they treat you, how much do they pay, etc.....
4) How do you get started......from my point of view, what should I do if you were me?
5) A lot more questions will come to mind, but for now this is it!
Thanks a lot in advance, for the help and advice. |

There's a search button at the top of the page. Do a search for all your questions, put in many hours of reading, and then give us any further, specific questions. You'll find that people are more willing to respond if it looks like you've already put in some time. All your questions have been answered many times.
In short, you'll have no problem getting a job here. Yes, it's worth it. Get a CELTA certificate first. Do your CELTA in Poland. Start looking for work in September, you'll be fine. Good luck |

The only problem I see is that you won't make enough teaching there to pay off any student loans you might have racked over the years. Other than that, Poland is a great place to work and live. You should make more than enough to live well there, but given the difference in the cost of living you won't make jack compared to home. |
