Anyone have any experience being a freelance ESL teacher in Chile? If so, could you please share your impressions/experiences. Can you live off the pay? Is it easy to find clients?
Thanks. |

The pay is much better if you teach freelance. I vary my rates according to how rich I think my students are but you can charge up to 15000pesos an hour. However, it is much more unreliable as students have no contract with you so can cancel when they like. So it is probably good to combine the two (working for an institute and private lessons). Also, if you are here for longer, go straight to businesses and ask them if they need english teachers, cutting out the middle man. |
