Does anyone know if there is an accepted way to punctuate a multi-choice question?

There are many ways to:
a/ Punctuate
b/ punctuate

Or is it just
a/ Like this.
b/ Like this
c/ like this.
d/ like this

Anyone know the definitive way?

Thanks

If the answer is a portion of the sentence, punctuate it as that part deserves.

1. What is the answer to ___
a. this question?
b. this question!
c. this question.
d. this question,

2. What ___ the answer to the question?
a. is
b. be
c. was
d. are

3. If you have a ___ , what will your mother say?
a. fight
b. beer
c. girlfriend
d. car accident

Obviously, #3 does not allow the answers to use punctuation. #1 could be written similarly. I suppose you could do the same with ALL of these if you like. Just be consistent.

Notice how I dealt with capitalization, too. If it deserves it in the sentence, use it in the answer.

4. ___ you know the answer, write it fast.
a. When
b. While
c. If
d. Since
