Anyone know of the most cost effective way of getting to CUBA from central america.
I am currently in Nicaragua and could get buses and hope to fly from wherever is cheapest. I heard Cancun is not bad, and Costa Rica too.. anyone any ideas??

Cubana airlines may be cheapest but expect delays and overbooking. I would assume it to be cheapest from Cancun or area. I flew from Mexico City, as part of a travel agent package...must have cost about $350 usd (in January) there and back. That doesn't include the $3.50 pack of super Excedrin one needs to survive Cuban airline hospitality. |

Flying with Cubana is like travelling on a camello (articulated lorry bus in Havana): it's something you should do only when absolutely necessary. Cubana flights invariably take off late and the in-flight service leaves a lot to to be desired, but I imagine flying from central America is less torturous than flying from Europe. |

Flight delays aside - and of course Cubana doesn't have a monopoly there - I twice had to endure non-reclining reclining seats, which was rather uncomfortable. Air France is my airline of choice these days. |

Which brings us to the highly subjective nature of favourite airlines. I suffered the worst flight of my entire life (and I've been on lots of flights) on Air France from Singapore to Paris then Barcelona. Really awful customer service and the most uncomfortable seats I've ever experienced.
I'd rather travel on a flying carpet installed with a bed of nails! |

I didn't get any. I imagine ryans got it to distract him from something else, like bad food or a missing wing. |

Food was meagre but not bad. One of the Russian Planes was kinda sketchy though for the tests they do before going on a trip. |
