I have 1 year experience working in China and now I am in China trying to get another job. But... I only want to work for 6 months, in a university, but several people turn me down because I don't want to stay for the whole year. I have been away from home for quite some time, and while I still having quite gotten my "China fix" (I was an East Asian Studies major in college), I don't know if I would enjoy a whole 'nother year here. I will definitely return to China in the future, but maybe not now.
Enough rambling. Anyone have any luck with 6-month university contracts? Any tips? |

I'm on a 4 month contract. *THAT* was hard to secure. 6 month contracts are pretty standard. Just state clearly in your cover letter to potential employers that that is what you are seeking. Otherwise, let them know why they should you above all others, make them want only you and no others and then say "May I see a copy of your 6 month contract template?".
It's a highly competitive market. You have to make your potential employer believe they will lose something if they don't hire you, specifically, before you start discussing stipulations. |
