|

Hi,
I am just trying to figure out what I can expect and what is expected of me when I accept a job. I was shown a contract, which had wording like this...
"Following the requirements set forth by the head of the teaching department and the school, the Teacher is to plan, organize, prepare and offer instructions in the English immersion classes assigned to him/her at the school site to which he/she is assigned and is to assist as required with the supervision of students.
The Teacher is expected to prepare appropriate resource materials, develop approved annual course plans, develop detailed lesson plans, and proved quality teaching to the students."
Now I am not sure really what can be expected? I mean do I start teaching immediately and with a lesson plan already prepared or is there some sort of discussions/meetings with other teachers to plan out lesson plans to see if they are appropriate? I just wanted to be prepared when I actually get there. I mean should I be bringing as many books with activities or do schools have materials that I am supposed to use. From what this contract states, it seems like I may have to have everything? Please let me know if I am just being paranoid?
Thanks. |

hi,
do you know what age the students will be. What resources are available to you, will you have access to copiers or printers Let me know i can send some websites but depending on the age of students, i'm not sure how helpful they will be. |

You had better ask them what kind of resources they will put at your disposal; planning so far ahead without knowing their modus operandi is useless and will only lead to disappointment and frustration.
Why do they ask you to teach kids aged from 3 to 12? Kindergarten plus primary school? A K-12?
Most likely, your intellectual input will not be heeded or even required; the verbose wording in that agreement sounds pretty noncommital to me, designed to act as window-dressing by a school that doesn't know just yet what miracle they want you to perform. You will be just another FT flunkey! Obey and tremble! |

Hi,
Well I wasn't really thinking they would have me teach all the different levels. I figured it was just a way of saying you will be teaching kids in the range of 3 to 12, but it will be just a small set and not all 3 to 12 year olds. For example, ages 5 and 6. If you are saying that schools will pull something like that, thats kinda crazy I never thought of anything like that, but I should be carefull.
thanks. |
