Hi there,

My husband and I are headed to Peru in just a few short days. We plan to teach and travel for 9-12 months. As we're packing, we can't help but wonder what clothing is most appropriate for teaching and day-to-day?

I know what the weather is like, so am not thinking in those terms. Instead, I'm thinking about culturally-appropriate clothing. Do I need to wear skirts in certain places or have a formal suit for interviewing and/or teaching. Are jeans okay for everyday occasions? What about shorts or sleeveless shirts?

Thanks in advance for your input!

Semi formal, women here wear tight dress pants and a blouse. Sandals were excepted where I worked in the north. NOthing too short, no sleeveless shirts or shorts.

Jeans, especially super tight ones that make it hard to breath are worn by most of the women here.

Skirts, formal suits are ootional

Wear a hat also, and preferably sun-cream. The sun is deceptively strong and you burn very quickly and very badly.

Also women who dress show any sort of leg or cleavage just get gawked at, whistled at etc.
