|

I'm collecting some interesting/entertaining short video clip links for use in class. I'd like to keep an ongoing and updated list of these here on Dave's (on this thread), if that's OK with the moderators. I would hope that other FTs might also add their own links to add to the collection. The idea is that eventually there might be scores or even hundreds of short clips we might be able to use in class. When the number gets too great, I can categorise them (e.g. scary, funny, cultural misunderstandings etc.)
I shall begin with the ones below. Basically all you need is a computer in the classroom with an internet connection (or save the desired clip on a flash disk or on the computer hard drive before the lesson). You can use them as a discussion point, or as part of the theme of the lesson. Of course you can use them in English Corner too. The fact that they are short (30 secs to 5 mins) makes them ideal for the classroom.
I'll begin with the ones below. Some have no English (e.g. the Japanese ones), but you can just do a voiceover. If the clip is too long, just show part of it. Make sure you preview the clip before the lesson to determine whether the content is appropriate for the age group you are teaching. And just make sure that the web sites don't have any dodgy pop-ups, or it could be embarrassing for you!
I took some of these from other posts on Daves - sorry can't recall whose posts.

I've used clips from www.ebaumsworld.com, as well as www.massdestraction.com
these can be downloaded as wmv or mpegs, which worked best in my lab.
youtube has got some interesting clips, but are streamed or something.
anyway, i look at length, language used, clarity for my clips.
humour as well btw. They can be useful as warmers, that's how I used them anyway. Hard to find stuff that connects to your lessonplan well I found.
Sorry i dont have direct links, but Im sure people can find the stuff they need themselves on these sites. ebaumsworld has got some audio files as well btw.
