Hi,
The facts are these: I'm broke - Have no TEFL certificate to speak of - itching to go to Taiwan - No teaching experience - I'm wielding a degree certificate, for what it's worth.
Does anyone out there know of an agency/chain school which offers adequate preparatory training for the likes of me. I'm only going out for a year and need to be back for September hence the urgency.
I've heard that Saxon Court offers some sort of training but I've also heard that they're evil incarnate. Any advice out there?
oh yea, do you have to take the original degree or does a copy do the trick?
Thanks |

Isn't the CELTA training a "crash course" for teaching ESL? |

Didn't you read that our heroine is broke and she hasn't even started TEFLing yet. Of course the CELTA is a crash course but they charge an outrageous amount of money for it. |

I've just been hired by Hess in Taiwan - I have a 60hour online TEFL 'diploma' but really don't think that made any difference. their training is the best I've seen - two weeks at the start, follow ups through your first year, and they give you an in-house Tefl cert at the end. Not sure it'll be much, if any use outside Taiwan though.
Hess's web address is www.hess.com.tw
However, you do need to sign a contract for a year, so I think you'll be tied in till at least the end of November next year, unless they want you to come before the next raining session in Nov.
And yes, you need the original degree certificate. |
