|
|
Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum and recently was offered a job with GEOS. I will be leaving in early November (I hope). Because of my intention to pursue further schooling in Sept of 2007, I will most likely need to cut my contract before the year is up (cutting it sometime in August 2007). Is this possible? Are there other GEOS teachers out there who have had no hassles with cutting their contracts early? In the contract itself, it states that I need to give them 4 months notice so that they have enough time to find another teacher to replace me with. I think the earliest notice I can give is 3 months. Would they not let me leave unless I give them 4 months notice? and do teachers need to pay GEOS back for anything (ie: paying for the rent of the apartment for the last 3 months or so) because I've cut the contract 2 to 3 months short of 1 year?
I'm just a little worried.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

You don't have to give 4 months notice. You can give 2 weeks notice if you want. Give as much notice as you can and that's that. What are they going to do. Really, one month is more than enough. Good luck.
By the way, this was all covered using the search function too. |

You are likely going to lose the year-end (end of contract, that is) bonus, which would otherwise make up for a lot, if not all, of your airfare. Bear this in mind. Otherwise, I agree with canuck on the other matters. I think you are actually required to give a month's notice for the first 6 months you are employed, and after that you don't have to give more than 2 weeks. Check the Labour Standards. |

I figured you could have provided a more accurate answer to her question. |

Just give a month's notice Maryanne. Geos must pay you all salaries due and cannot withhold 'future rent'. They will replace you and put the new teacher in your apartment. |

If you knew a more accurate answer you should have helped him out than simply slinging insults for the pleasure of it. |
