Are there any of you out there? Or am I going to be the only one?

Ok, more to the point, am I going to be able to see the AFL finals on tv anywhere? My guess is that I'm kidding myself if I think I'm going to be able to watch Aussie Rules in Poland. I arrive on thursday, and damn, the demons have made the semi finals. Who'd a thunk it. If I miss them break a 42 year premiership drought I'm not sure what I'll do.

Yes there are quite a few Aussies in Poland. I know several here in Warsaw.

As for AFL: yes you can watch it here. You will need to find a pub which has Sky Sports (British satellite TV). Altho' I think that Sky only shows highlights in the regular season they should be showing the semis and final live (and hopefully on delay as well). In Warsaw your best bet would be Bradley's Irish pub.

Thanks Alex. Sky Sports. Ok. Is this channel likely to broadcast the Ashes and World Cup (Cricket) next year as well?

Perhaps I can get a cable connection in my apartment when I arrive. How much would that cost per month?

Yes they will be showing both those.

No you can not get a cable connection. What you could do is to get satellite dish and subscribe to Sky TV. That will cost you about 180 zloty per month (plus the cost of the dish and LLB - 350 zloty fitted - plus the decoder box - about 500 zloty) but to subscribe you will need somebody in the UK who will sign up for you - they must then post the decoder card to you. You will also need a UK bank account to run the subscription from. You can not sign up with a Polish address or pay with anything other than a UK bank account or credit card.

Well hello. Yes another Aussie in Poland.

I'm not sure about the AFL, you should ask at the Embassy or join the mailing list for ex-pats they have linked on the Embassy website. Perhaps they'll know somewhere.

Best of luck! Smile
