Hi,

My names Duncan and I am about to start (on 21st September) my CELTA TEFL Course. Once qualified I am hoping to find work in Italy, in Lombardia, if possible around Lake Lecco or Lake Como, as I already have friends in Mandello del Lario.

As far as I know there are no language schools in Mandello, but there are schools in Lecco, Como and some of the towns to the north end of the Lake Como. However, my friends don't know where they are, there addresses etc. So I was wondering if anybody out there has ever worked in this part of Italy? Do you know of any schools in the area? Are they good employers? Are there any schools in the area I should avoid like the plague?

Any advice regarding finding teaching work in this area would be appreciated.

Also, I'm a 41yr old single male, bearded hairy ex-biker. I know from past visits to Mandello that there are not many people who look like me in the area (surprisingly, as the Moto Guzzi factory is in Mandello). How much, if at all, is this likely to negatively impact my search for work?
