I just read on the BBC website that the Polish Government has relaxed a number of work restrictions on (some?) non-EU citizens. According to this report, foreign language teachers are included in the groups of workers who no longer need a work permit.
Here's the link:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/5301186.stm
Here's an excerpt:
"Poland is easing restrictions on workers from Eastern Europe and Turkey to fill labour gaps, following massive Polish migration to Western Europe.... The relaxation also covers foreign language teachers, business executives, media correspondents, researchers and employees transferred to Poland by their companies, who will not need to apply for work permits."
The article does NOT specifically mention Americans, so I have no idea whether they are included. |

I actually need to get my hands on a copy of this new directive (will hopefully be able to do so tomorrow) to check the exact wording. I get the feeling that they will just reword the existing regulations on teachers at public schools (state schools as the English call them). Those state that any teacher of a language which is the official language of the country which he is a citizen of does not need a work permit. Bit of a problem for people from the USA. But great news to Indians!
It'll also be interesting to see how many of the brothels in Poland suddenly turn into private language schools (focusing on Ukrainian, Belarussian and Moldovan most probably). |

I think the Ustawa is nr.156 poz.1116.
Good news for Americans, Canadians, and others from English speaking countries outside of the EU. |
