|
|
I'm toying with the idea of making a move to Japan next year and had a few thoughts...
I had a browse through the ESL job section and couldn't find a single ad that contained the word "Kagoshima" or even "Kyushu". Are ESL positions that rare in Kyushu? Or am I missing something?
Are there any US military bases in Kagoshima? If so, how large is the presence in the area.
Any general recommendations? |

| I see occasional listings for Kagoshima, Fukuoka, etc. in Ohayo Sensei; rarely so here. |

the US base is in Sasebo, which is in Nagasaki.
It is not easy to get work in Kyushu. |

Thanks for replies and for putting me on to the Ohayo Sensei. Just downloaded the magazine and actually there is one ad for a job in Kagoshima. Unfortunately it starts now and that's just not possible for me.
Apart from Daves and Ohayo Sensei could you recommend other decent job search resources?
Ok. So the only military base is in Nagasaki? I'm a bit surprised by that; I thought that they would be littered all over Kyushu...
So, thanks again. |

I don't think you'll find a lot of major Kyushu-specific web sites that advertise for jobs. Here's the only one I know, and it contains lots of other stuff as well unrelated to jobs.

Why? Perhaps you are confusing Kyushu with Okinawa...? |

Thanks for the link.
I suppose that I'm confusing Korea with Japan (I live in Korea currently). There are military bases everywhere here. |

Hi There,
I work in Kagoshima, and I like it a lot here. From my experience there are open positions, but it`s more about talking to people and discover that there is a job opening here or there and then getting a recommendation from them.
My advice for getting a job in Kyushu would be to contact people you may know in the area you are interested in working and see if they can make some connections for you. The other option would be to come here yourself and try to make some connections.
Also, I would advise you to be very careful of Kagoshima ads you see on Gaijinpot. If you are looking at anything specific in the area, please pm me for further info.
