Hello there....
I am heading down to Chile in about a month....to live, teach, hang out, etc. I lived there about three years ago for a study abroad, but am now returning for about a year....
Where are you from? Ever been to Chile before?
I am from Chicago....born and raised but went to school in Iowa. I have been back teaching Spanish for the past two years, I love it, but I need some travel and live abroad time, very much looking forward to it.
Well, drop me a line when you get the chance.
Take care,
Becky |

Hi Becky,
It's great that your coming back. I was here last year for a convention and now I'm back, I've been here for 4 months and it has been a real challenge. I've become a bit of an expert about work visas so if you need some info let me know.
Gonzalo, I'm here and i've exhuasted all the sites around my neighbourhood. I would love to hear some news aobut some sites around town.
cheers all,
see you in august

Hey all!
Cool, thanks for the replies- I'm from Scotland, and have just graduated from uni so I'm looking forward to a year away after a hard final year! I have never been to Santiago or South America before, but I'm really looking forward to the travelling and learning Spanish...so far a year of lessons has not got me very far!
So yes, if anyone is about from August onwards then, that would be great to meet up!
Cheers,
FIona. |

Yikes,
I see that you responded but as sometimes happens with me, I fell of the face of the earth. lol
It's the fast paced life of and English teacher I suppose. I've been here since Feb and I have been enjoying it alot. I do in fact know el Parque Forestal, I bought a little book and took the tour all the way to mercado central.
Thanks so much for your reply

Hello all,
did anyone actually get in touch with any of our helpful chilean friends who sometimes post here??
Just asking because I have noticed that our chilean friends find it very challenging to keep promises lol everything from:
we'll meet tomorrow
I'll give you the number of person who can get you a job
I'll buy the milk today
Ahh the chileans, I do love them and I'm even getting used to the cultural use of white lies. Give me a few more months and I'll be a pro hehehehehe.
cheers all

You get use to Chileans being late. One thing you will need to learn about Chile is it is rude to be early to a meeting. After a year or so being fashionably late starts to be the same as being on time. |
