Yes, it's an English word, so don't fret about it.

In my recent joining-of-the-ranks of the anti-xenophobia movement (quite informal I assure you), I recently found something I've been looking for. Before this, it was all about replacing

"Look at the foreigner."

with:

"Hmmm, I wonder where they come from."

Both of the above translate directly into Chinese BTW.

The new word I found was [b]International Teacher[/b]. It emphasis a choice, profession, and your own personal identity (i.e. individuality). A few schools in my neck of the woods have actually started to accept this.

While I'm not a political correctness activist, I do think these questions and that term can go a long way to removing xenophobia and it won't be so difficult for us to impart to students (especially since we do focus on communication in-class...even if you're a monkey).
