Anyone else out there heard about the two teachers left in an East Jakarta hospital over the weekend with suspected avian flu, whilst the EF school (local to the Bekasi area) denied any responsibility or involvement?

Sounds distant but EF are capable of anything, apart from education...

Does this mean that EF infected the teachers with bird flu? Shocked

Turned out that it wasn't teachers but two students of the Bekasi franchise that contracted the virus.

The hunt is still on for the blue and white striped chicken responsible..

I am a teacher at the ONLY EF in Bekasi and I can say that all of our staff are alive and quite healthy. As far as students contracting the virus, we have a small school and I am sure if that has happened that word of it would have reached us teachers, at least from our other students who love to gossip, before we could have read about it from the internet. My girlfriend aslo works at the Jakarta EF on the outskirts of Bekasi, and there are no reports of it there either. Bekasi is a wonderful little school (who is also hiring by the way) with great staff and students.

I would check your facts a little closer before you start spreading potentially harmful rumours. Evil or Very Mad

I guess papillon should really start listening to those "braying" Indonesians rather than to TEFL gossip.

I am interested who this "friend" is as we haven't had a teacher leave our school for over a year, let alone a Canadian. Are you sure this is EF Bekasi that you heard this about? There are plenty other ESL organizations around this area.

This is the same outfit that advertised they were a 20min taxi ride from central jakarta - forgetting to mention that this is the likely time taken at 4.30am on a Tuesday.

Bekasi Bluebird taxi meters have an extra digit to account for the jams on Bekasi Raya...

Would this be the same female Canadian teacher that was assaulted by the Director Ruby Njoman?

4 million rupiah a month, housing deducted, poor school and 2 hours from centtral Jakarta.

Also, check any Indo narkoba/polisi programme on the TV and Bekasi is ALWAYS up there for busts.

KJB or whatever your name is, don't try to recruit for shady outfits on this forum, you kook.

I understand that your school is in serious need of a grammar teacher Laughing
