I am thinking about taking a photograph of all of my students so that I can memorize all of their names. Can someone recommend a good program that will allow me to quickly view the photos and which will allow me to write certain bits of information under the pictures, such as X is good at writing but needs help with pronunciation?
Also
What software programs do you think can be of use for teaching? Which programs help you to save time and in what ways?
Thanks |

Photoshop will allow u to do it easily enough, allowing you to write text on or under a photo. but not everyone has a copy of it (its not cheap, altho pirated copies here are, but getting an english version isnt always easy). i use PS CS2. Photoshop Elements is a lot cheaper (makes no difference in china tho, still pirate) and will also do it i think, but i've never used that program.
MS powerpoint is great for doing nice slide presentations to your classes but your school needs to have the hardware in place to use your laptop in class.

Three words: file-sharing software like Bearshare, Limewire, Shareaza, etc. |

If you use any image editing program to crop and size the student's photos to roughly passport size (you can do it with ms paint after some fiddlinga round) you can then just put the photos in a table in a word document and leave a cell below each one for comments. |

Irfanview is free to download. Then you can do what Bro D suggested and put it all in an MSWord table or doc.

I would also use photoshop.
You can download Kazaa Lite which is a file sharing program then search for photoshop and download the english version from there for free.
However an address book style program that allows you to add photos would be a good idea. That is really what you are after. Let me do some research and get back to you on that one. |

Can anyone suggest a good Grade Book software program? If it has the ability to load a photo of the student then all the better.
There are plenty out there with 30 day free trials. I am concerned that after the 30 days my data will be locked up unless I buy the software.
Any good freeware out there? |

don't overlook M$ office. Either word or excel will do the job fine as long as you use one of the 100s of free image editors available on the web to resize and crop the pictures. |
