Upi were nice enough to give me a good reference the other day so ill do the same for them, with so many schools assuming that teachers are going to continue to arrive regardless of incentives, UPI are actually offering a very realistic package. lots of schools will tell you that living in the smaller cities is cheaper and pay 30% less accordingly. this is toatal crap in every respect bar housing. In actual fact having a good time can be more expensive outside of jakarta - efl teachers spend less in the provinces cos they cant afford to go out and do much. UPI pay the same wage across the board as far as I know AND offer a very generous travel allowance - one that actually covers your travel costs IN A TAXI! ooooh, theres posh for you.

I currently work for UPI, and the only thing I can say is that I have been teaching for 15 years in six different countries, and I have NEVER- see if I can be even more enfatic- NEVER worked for such a horrible organization. They are disorganized, they have blatently stolen money from us, and on top of it are VERY dishonest. Stay far away. I know of not one teacher that currently works there that would recommend them.

It seems one of my colleagues is rather bitter, unlike my colleague though, I will not hide behind a pen name, nickname or otherwise.
I would like to let everyone know of a very recent experience I had and the outcome. On the afternoon of August 15th I suffered excruciating stomach pains (which turned out to be a gall bladder infection). I then admitted myself to the Husada Hospital in Jakarta where I underwent blood tests, x-rays, C.T. scans, medicines given to me from 'all angles'.
I was discharged five days later, my bill came to over 9million rupiah which was covered by UPI. Incidentally, UPI is a very large and expanding organisation and as a result we have an ad in Saturday's Jakarta Post. If you're professional why not check us out. Thanks for your time,Martin.

If you believe that people are hiding because they aren't publishing their name (or other details such as their address, phone number etc) you obviously don't understand the concept of an internet forum.

I'm glad that your health problems have been resolved, but I hardly think UPI's health insurance is worth bragging about. TBI's health insurance, for instance, provides Rp. 858 million coverage per annum - plenty to have a heart bypass or some brain surgery if needed.

How about addressing the theft from staff, contempt for staff, pay disputes, dishonesty etc rather than promoting UPI based on their health insurance?

BTW, Thanks for letting us know about UPI's ad in the Jakarta Post! Razz
