"She's got everyhting she needs, she's an artist she don't look back..."
Can anyone tell me the name of this song by Bob Dylan?
That and I was just wondering if anyone has had a great day recently?
I am having one now and every day.
Enjoy,
s

Seconded. One of Dylan's brightest recording momments (and there were many of those moments). That disc has some of his best writing. Gates of Eden, It's Alright Ma, Mr Tamborine Man, Subterranean Homesick Blues... in fact, She Belongs to Me is likely the least known on the disc, certainly the least powerful poetically.
But you know what, Blonde on Blonde is an even better record(s). If he'd died in that motorbike accident after that, man, his legend would be all the more legendary. James Dean x 100. |

| Girl from the North Country with Johnny Cash is my favorite right now. Can't even remember what that is off but the first record I bought, used of course, was Freewheeling at the neighbors' yard sale. That was right about the time that I went with the neighbors to the burning down of the BA in IV. |

how's about we change this to the bobbie d thread.
the bootlegs are a series of unreleased material (or so i believe). i think these were released after a similar series of beatle albums were released and sold well. anyway. they span his career and it's interesting to listen to his style change.
i vote the first is the best. but i like early dylan. last thoughts on woody g. no words to describe.

| Done. Thanks for the info Maya, and the link. Though I havesn't had a chance to listen to anything yet as I am in the office. When you say early Bob what do you mean? What are some of your favorites? That and can I ask you if you play at all, guitar? |

shitey. i wrote this huge long list of favs and poof...gone
so the basics.
favs: the folky, guthrie-ish, topical, & protest, strangely amusing (i shall be free no.10) songs. and others.
early dylan: most of what i listen to is from the 1960s, w/ some 70s-current thrown in for variety.
guitar: nope. |

Sorry about that, know how that goes, right up there with forgetting your teki or money for the train, or arriving at work soaked. Actually, I take that back. Arriving at school soaked is not as bad as losing text. But how about a couple titles anyway Maya?
Enjoy,

Ya, I think Dylan can be divided into two main eras, the pre-bike accident, and post-accident era. The fantastic Scorcese documentary stops at the bike accident - very intentional. I love the early stuff, where he's still finding his own mark, doing alot of Woody Guthrie and Ramblin Jack Elliot copping. Especially that very first album, of which only 2 songs are his own (the rest traditionals). Freewheeling remains one of my favourite overall records. The Bootleg stuff from that era is equally sensational, especially those rare coffee house recordings, thinkin of Cocaine Blues and No More Auction Block in particular.

You implying Dylan couldn't play very well? I used to think that til I actually started playing guitar some 20 years ago. I still can't for the life of me get that finger pattern from Don't Think Twice down well. Granted, Dylan is no Doc Watson oir Hendrix, but he seems to possess good playing ability when he wants to. Dylan was a great copycat in his early days absorbing styles like sponge. It shows on the first album. |
