Have you tried major banks in your area? Though usually international fees are super high. You might want to look into sending money via Western Union or Jet Peru |

Banco Wiese, with branches all over Peru, is now part of the Scotia bank family and so you may well get a good deal with them. My bank in Britain doesn't charge me but ATM's here do - the smallest fee is from the yellow Cajero net machines which charge 3 soles. |

As mentioned on another thread, Netbank is a great choice for Americans heading abroad. Everything can be handled online. The thing I like most of all is that there are no fees of any kind on the basic account and deposits are as easy as pie.
If you leave some deposit slips with a relative, they can make deposits for you. How easy are the deposits? Visit any UPS Store with the deposit and they send it, for free, next day mail. You can also link your netbank to other accounts. For example, if you bank with another bank, you can login and transfer money to your net bank account. They are ACH transfers and don't cost anything.
Another thing that is awesome is that you get a Visa debit card when you sign up, but you can also get an atm only card. The advantage of this is that you can just use your atm card at the atms and if it gets eaten, you still have another card to use if you have to. |
