Hi,
me and a friend have recently sent our applications to GEOS to teach in Japan. They replied quickly stating that we should give them a call for a short interview between 11 - 5pm. We have tried for a number of days now and have only ever got a answering message. We both left messages and got no reply. We were wondering if this is normal, or if it is some kind of screenng process. We are both from the north of england but neither have broad accents. Do you think this will work against us in anyway? any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks Very Happy

Here's a stupid question:
They obviously meant 11am to 5pm Japan time. Did you take that into account?

GEOS has a permanent school and offices in London so I doubt it.

I reckon they want to talk to you just in case you have thick northern accents in order to save you a trip to London if they deem you unsuitable.

Having said that it seems a bit odd and I've never heard of GEOS doing that before.

I had to do that with the London office. It could be that you've been unlucky and you've been calling whilst they've been having a training or interview session and so have been out of the office, in the training room instead. I'd suggest leaving it until after the weekend or try calling as close to 5 as you can, hopefully after the trainees have gone home. Good luck, it was a piece of cake. They just wanna make sure you're a native, from what I could tell of mine. Very Happy
