|

Hello all from yet another newbie!
I am planning to move to Santiago next year, once I've amassed some savings; I am thinking of doing the CactusTEFL certificate there, as it seems like a good way to get used to the place and get an idea of how things work. But it's a bit scary, this business of just turning up, and Id be very grateful for any advice about my chances of finding a job I could live on.
I have a BA and MPhil (Russian and History respectively) and a year's experience of teaching in Paris - yes, I chose possibly the worst place to start an ESL career - and I will have a certificate by March, or at least this is my plan. I also have a couple of years' experience tutoring students in English lit and academic writing skills, and - scraping the bottom of the barrel here - a couple of publications too. With a TEFL certificate, do I stand a chance of finding a decent place with contract? I would really like to work in a university, but I realise those posts are probably much harder to come by.
Any advice or tips would be really appreciated - and thanks for all the informative posts so far, reading the forum has been really useful! |

If you want to come to Chile, why not do your certificate here in The Tefl Academy. The director is James Foster. He is very serious and as far as I know, many of the people that have successfully completed the course have found jobs both in Chile and abroad. His contact information is [email protected]. |
