Hello to all you TEFLers out there.

Ill cut to the chase.

Ive got a girlfriend of over a year who is from Torren and will be there for at least a year. Flying back and fourth between California (Alta, Monterey Peninsula to be precise.) is getting expensive and we dont get to see eachother as much as we would like.

I have a BA in "World Languages and Cultures"... I focused on Spanish/Hispanic Cultures, and im yet to do any certification programs, and I currently work at an e-commerce company here in el Norte.

Are jobs available to me without a certification in the Laguna region (Torren, Gomez Palacios, Lerdo)?

Feel free to PM me.

Hey....

I lived in Torreon last year and was teaching gr. 6 at a school there. I didn't have my teaching certificate then and currently, my roommate from that time is still there living and teaching and he also lacks any teaching/ESL qualifications. You might have an opportunity at such a school (although I have to warn you...I did not like my time spent working there) or you may be able to find enough clients doing private tutoring to supply you with a sufficent income. Remember, there are a lot of big industries there and you may be able to find some solid tutoring there for their employes (both national & international).

I would see if your g/f can check things out for you or, the next time you're down I would do some investigating and see what you can come up with. As for Lardo and Gomez P....I have no idea!! I do not know what the opportunities are like there as I never met anyone who was doing English teaching/tutorings in that area.

Best of luck, as I know the long distance thing is horrible. I make the commute to Torreon myself (from D.F).

....dixie
