I am going to teach in Japan for 1.5 years. I will be living in a small town for 1 year and then plan to travel around.
Do you think travel insurance is worth it? Why?
Yes I did searches and didn't find much. |

Whether travel insurance turns out to be "worth it" comes down to fate. You may go through the whole of your 1.5 years and have no problems and absolutely no need of it. If after those 1.5 years you have paid for insurance you may think it was a waste of money.
On the other hand, you could lose all your credit cards and cash and be stranded somewhere, get sick or die and need to have your body repatriated to your home country at great expense.
How are we to know what could happen? |

by travel insurance, do you mean health insurance? if so, it's a case of "ask yourself, do you feel lucky. Well, do you punk?"
I got a friend who hasn't had any, and no probs. he's a healthy vegetarian who has also been lucky. I have interglobal and when my mum died they paid for my plane ticket home, so it was worth it for me even though I don't go to the doctor.
if i was you, I would pay for the minimum coverage in case you have an accident. |
