perhaps this is an obvious question, but can americans working in spain get health care? is it true that americans who work in spain pretty much have to work illegally? If you don't have healthcare, can you still see a physician for relatively inexpensively?
thanks! |

There's a private health insurance plan you can subscribe to in Spain, even if you're not living there legally - it's called Sanitas. Check it out on this website for expats living in Spain: www.multimadrid.com, in the Forums section. |

I asked an expat about that and she was young and didn't bother with Health Care, another person mentioned that if you need health care (ie an accidnet) don't give your passport but your address. Basicly your acting like an illegal in America, you go to the Emergency Room and the tax payers pick up the tap.
If your planning on staying long term than I'd buy healthcare as its pretty cheap when your under 30. As I've been told an NIE (residency) number is not required. |

I'm way over under 30 - I wonder how much a health care plan would cost for me. I've also heard that you don't need to be living legally in Spain to buy health insurance. |
