Its in Saigon South so it's out of the city centre quite a ways. Brand new building and campus - very nice. Paying US$19/hr. - they're looking for prep Eng. teachers.
Good luck!!

Turned down a job there back in June after my induction. Very big classes (20+) when I'd been told 12-14, changed my schedule without consulting me, don't allow you to supplement your salary by working elsewhere, a week's downtime every 10 weeks (so no pay), and they don't allow you to use Yahoo Mail or Hotmail anywhere in the building, for some bizarre reason. So I said no.

For teachers new to HCMC & wanting a professional environment & a secure contract it's a good bet, but otherwise I wasn't impressed.

Do those conditions apply to those people on a full time contract too

Well, they told me at the interview once you complete 10 weeks you get a full-time contract, but when I went down there for my induction this "full-time contract" wasn't all it seemed - you're still only paid for the hours you teach and still have an empty week every 10.

In its favour, it is a very professional setup, great facilities, great location away from the noise & traffic of HCMC, and probably a great place for newcomers to VN.

Bird,

Would be interested in just how much is a 20+ class.

Taught 20-24 student classes for two years and like them a lot. Bigger tasks, can be more student centered and good for communicative learning. I have taught 3-10 students per class and dont enjoy it near as much.

One week off every ten weeks. Quite like that too.

Thank you for you post.

I believe that one gets a contract which includes paid holiday time after working a couple of semesters. There is also health insurance and the hours are in blocks, rarely if ever at night or on the weekends. It's a professional gig with a career path, as other internal positions also come up from time to time. If you've got the quals, I would say go for it!

Are you saying the salary is the same regardless of one's education and experience?

Too bad.
Any chance that they hire for those salaried positions from abroad or are they ONLY internal appointments?
