Hello hello....

I'm coming to Krakow at the end of the week to take up a new job. Though the school have said they'll help me find a place, I just thought I'd cast my net a bit wider... I guess most teachers as well as University students are already safely ensconsed in their (new) homes, but if any of you are looking for a flatmate, or know of anything/anyone, give me a shout. Having spent the last two years living alone ( elsewhere in Poland) I think it'd be nice to share again.

Failing that, if you could suggest any websites, papers to lay my hands on when I get there etc I'd really appreciate it. Anyway, thanks in advance, and maybe see you soon.... Very Happy

Whatever you do don't do what I did - I accepted a flat via an agency sent "to help" me by Profi-Lingua, who employed me in Krakow. I did that as I was short on time and wanted to live with a Pole(s) to improve my Polish. Without first explaining it to me,I was told to stump up an extra month's rent as "service fee" from the woman who showed me the room (and didnt speak any English) and disappeared after I signed, not handling the payments. Not only that, the landlord became abusive such that I had to call the police in January, resulting in moving out early before the tenancy ended...
I suggest looking in "Gazeta Wyborcza" newpaper property section, trying numbers listed and "szybko.pl" for the best deals without agents but make sure you have a translator or sufficient Polish vocab for negotiating...
