Hi,

I have a job offer in Mexico, and have been asked to send the company an apostille. The problem which I have is that no-one here in the UK seems to have any idea of what an apostille is??? My employer advised me to contact my university and that they would be able to help.... the university registrar also has no idea??? Please can anyone help with some advice on how I would get an apostille from the UK?

Thanks for your help.

You need to go to the foriegn and commonwealth office in London, if you are far from London you can do it by post, call them for the particulars.
And apostille is an internationally recognized varification that your degree (or other document) is legit.

You need to go to the Old Admiralty Building at the top of the Mall. Tip: get there early! Even if you don't, lots of other people will, and the queue can be long.

You'll need to get any certificates certified by a solicitor's office first. If you are in a rush there is one the opposite side of Whitehall (?) from the Old Admiralty Building. They will do them on the spot for you - can't remember the cost - think it's around a tenner for each cert.

And grahamcito is correct; the wait is long. Can be up to half a day.

Hi,

There was a good thread on this about a year ago, on the third page:

http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/job/viewtopic.php?t=8725&highlight=

I did this whole legalisation business yesterday in London. It all seems quite daunting at first, but it's actually quite simple. The solicitor around the corner charge seven pounds now, not six. It's worth getting there early if you can. I arrived at 11, and it took about an hour, so not too bad.

Creighton & Partners Solicitors
1 Great Scotland Yard

It's a two minute walk from the F&C building, but can't quite remember where.
