Hey fellows and fellowettes,

Just been offered a place at the Kadıky 1 branch of ET. I was just wandered if anyone has worked there recently and has any tips / advice and what not?

Did a forum search but not a lot came up.

I'll be heading out at the start of November.

Anyone know anything about where they put teachers for the first three months? Are all teachers placed in the Lojman (sp?) in Taksim regardless of where their allocated branch is or do they put different people different places depending on where their branch is?

Thanks in advance

Smile

EDIT: Sorry about the title, not sure how to make it stop doing that Confused

I've been very busy...

To answer Kodak's question, all the teachers are put in the lojman in Taksim. It is easy to get just about anywhere from there, including Asia.

Kodak, I hope you have told Fay that you have decided to go to K1.

They've got a great bunch of teachers up there at K1. Carl is the resident grammar god, and he's always willing to lend a hand to anyone. There is a married couple Adam and Satara who speak about twenty million langauges and are just lovely. However, Adam does have a tendency to corner you and talk for five hours. Anyway, you will be just fine there.

It is really convenient when you are doing split shifts.

That was quick Very Happy Thankfully ET has bought another apartment building in Kadikoy. However, I'm not sure when it will be up and running.
It is a bit of a hike for those teachers who work over in Kadikoy, Bakirkoy and Sirenevler. However, the teachers that l have spoken to don't seem to mind doing the travelling for a couple of months as they get to meet and make friends with others in the lojman and find themselves some roommates to set up an apartment with. Also, they enjoy the social life of Taksim.

Personally, it wouldn't be my cup of tea to live in any lojman. I'm 30, and l like my own space. I can only tolerate house guests for short periods of time. However, at 23 or 24, l probably wouldn't have minded living in a lojman that much.

That is TEFL for you-a crappy extension of university life but when you get to your thirties you are too old to do the TEFL crap anymore. TEFull more like TEFL empty.

Um...not sure exactly what you wrote there. I like having a 9 to 5 job if that's what you mean. I like having a comfortable life. I gave up doing the whole Tefler weird shifts thing about three years ago. I still work in a school, but l don't teach that much anymore. I don't think wanting a change in my life makes me evil.

......I might be evil in other ways, though. Twisted Evil Very Happy
