Hi all
Is there any South Africans teaching in Poland?
I recently visited Krosno and stayed there for two weeks and loved the place.
I am now considering teaching English in Poland. What is a good salary and do they only employ people from European Union? Is it possible for me to work there on a tourist visa? And what is a good salary for Poland.
Please people I would appreciate all your input. Im considering Poland in late January. |

I have known a few but none of the Saffas I know now are teachers.
The rest of your questions could have been answered by using the search function but nevermind.
What is a good salary
Small town: 3000PLN a month is great. Bigger town: 4000PLN a month is good. Warsaw: 5000PLN a month will be enough for a good lifestyle. Those are all net figures
do they only employ people from European Union?
No. Non-EU nationals no longer need work permits to work as language teachers in Poland. You will however require a residency permit.
Is it possible for me to work there on a tourist visa?
Not sure about that one to be honest. You probably can because you can work as a teacher with out a work permit as long as you are legally in Poland. The best thing to do would be to contact the Polish consulate in SA and ask them.
And what is a good salary for Poland.
Didn't we already do that bit?

Not a particularly good time to come to Poland. Wait until September, will be much more work available then.
By the way: you are a qualified teacher right? If not then you will need to do the CELTA. The days of getting hired just because one spoke English are long gone. |

There may be openings in Jan. due to the fact that some folks just can't take teaching overseas and split leaving the school in the lurch. You may get lucky! And that area of Poland ( I would consider it Poland B or C) isn't too bad. You will be close to Slovakia and the mountians! Enjoy!!! |

You don't actually need a CELTA to work in Poland. You may have to look a little harder or sell yourself a bit more, and some schools do insist on a recognised qualification, but there are schools aplenty, big and small and all over Poland who employ teachers not in possession of teaching qualifications. |
