What happens if someone needs a day off before the two month period of employment is up at interac? What are the procedures and viable reasons?

I don't quite get the situation you are in, so here is just a general response to send you to the union website where you can find information on Japanese labour law.

All businesses in Japan, even Intercrap, have to follow the minimum employee rights as set out in the "Labor Standards Law" of Japan. I know Interac doesn't like to pay people or give vacations as they are legally bound to do. If it become a real problem you can threaten to take the issue to the Labor Standards Office (rodo kijun kanto kusho) and they may take you seriously then.

You could try the Interac branch union as well...

I think you usually have to give 1 week notice to take a holiday. If you work less than 6 months in Japan, you are still entitled to 9 days holiday, I believe.

What two month period of employment? What does your contract say about how, when, and how much paid annual leave you are to get?

Unless Interac has changed their policy since I was a manager there it can be said in three words! "You are fired!" The union doesn't have much weight against the management! You would have to have a very good reason to miss work within the two month period for them to even consider not letting you go!

I didn't know you were a manager there, John. Why did you get back into the ALT business? Is the pay better or what?

I actually enjoy teaching and being a positive influence on kids. For some reason, I don't have the same patience with adults. Specially those complaining and complaining without trying to resolve the problem.

When you were an Interac manager, Big John, did you know that Interac illegally dispatched their ALTs? What story did they give you to justify breaking the law?
