Hey everyone,

I have posted here a couple times asking questions leading up to my move to Costa Rica. Well, now I'm here and I have been for a little over a month - living and slowly filling a work schedule in Heredia. So far so good, although I will say that things here are not as cheap as I expected. For those thinking of coming down, make sure you have some start up cash.

Anyway, since I've been down here I've stared a personal blog in which I plan to talk about everything from what I do in the class room, to life in Heredia (or just life abroad), to traveling throughout the country. Hopefully as I learn more, experience more, and see more, I will be able to provide some insight into what its like to make the move down here to teach ESL.

All that being said, I've been thinking that my experiences will be somewhat limited, and there are many other people doing the same thing down here who have their own insights and "learning experiences" so I'm trying to gauge interest in creating somewhat of a "comunal blog".

What I'm thinking is, if there is interest, maybe a few people who are down here teaching would like to collectively contribute to a blog. Talk about what's working in the classroom, where to live, where to stay away from at night in San Jose, where to travel and how to best travel, good restaurants, etc etc etc Anything that you might want to post, that others either down here in costa rica, or looking to come down would be interested in. I think this could become a very nice compliment to the Dave's ESL cafe message board.

So yeah, my current blog is at http://costaricaclassroom.blogspot.com but as you can see i've really only begun and i think that it could be VERY well improved if we had the insight of a few different people.

Please respond to this post or email me at [email protected] if you have any thoughts or would like to be a contributor to the blog.

Thanks and sorry for the long post.

Bruce.

Thanks Zed,

Things are starting to move - we have a few different people who have expressed interest in contributing to the blog, but I'm still looking for more contributors, especially people who have been teaching in costa rica for a little while (I only moved here about 1.5 months ago) or those who are living somewhere other than Heredia.

Again, the URL is http://costaricaclassroom.blogspot.com - Check it out!

Oh and just today I added an entry on my recent trip to Manuel Antonio.
