Hi,
I have been planning on heading over to teach in HCMC for over a year, but unfortunately I may not have finished my BA in time (the subject I was doing over the summer was cancelled and they may not replace it etc, etc). If I am not able to finish before I go overseas I will able to finish it online while I am in HCMC and I will definitely graduate in June 2007.
Will I still be able to get work as a teacher before I graduate?
I am a 26 year old Australian woman. I will do my CELTA before I start looking for work. My major is in English Lit. I will have my police background check. I am happy to work with kids, teens or adults - thought I'd really like to take some kindergarten classes. I have some casual experience with helping international students with their English (completely informal, just looking over their essays, watching and explaining Australian films, going to museums, helping with conversation skills etc).
I realise that I wont be able to get work in the best schools and that I wont be able to get a work permit, but will I still be able to support myself? Not looking for a lavish lifestyle, but a few beers and other luxuries are needed!
Thanks for your help.
