Do a check on the "search" function. Click in Cfbt and see what you find.
From what I've read, people have had mixed views. The program seems extremely interesting to me and I love the country, but unfortunately the salary simply isn't enough for my circumstances (i.e. to support a family). If you're single or semi-retired from the mid-east states then I think it would be a great place to hang out and work for a bit. |

Can't be bothered to search, but if the package leaves you with less than RM 4,000 spending money after rent, utilities and tax, forget it. |

From what I've heard, you either get 5000 ringgett a month to be a teacher at a secondary school or, if you have an MA, 7000 a month to train teachers.
My sources inform me that the program is vague and directionless, and that they are only giving out year contracts because they don't know if the Min of Ed in Malaysia will re-up their recruiter contract for 2008.
This is just what my friend who works there says. YMMV. |

Thanks for the replies. Have to say that, what I have read here about the organisation (plus comments in other forums for other parts of the world) does not fill me with confidence. |

don't compare CfBT Malaysia with CfBT in other parts of the world. Each country has a different director who runs things their own way.
Ask them for the email addresses of several (not just one) people who are working there and get some info straight from the source. |

I have to say I wasn't too impressed with their recruitment process when I applied some time ago. Got fed up with waiting for a decision and accepted an offer from elsewhere instead. |

Different people hear different things I guess.
I have been here in Malaysia for several years now, and I have heard good things about them. I know someone who went to work in Taiping last year under contract. Believe me, 4-5000 RM per month out in the sticks is a large sum of money. It may be difficult to get by on it in Bandar SUnway or living in KLCC, but outstation, it's a lot of money.
I have thought about joining them, but just landed a fantastic contract elsewhere, for almost double what I am now making in a certain kl school.
Whichever way you play it, Malaysia is the place to be as far as I am concerned!

Yeah, I'm in Bandar Sunway. I guess that's why we have disagreed about an acceptable wage in KL. Congratulation on the nice pay increase. |

Does anybody know what part of the year this programme starts?
I thought I heard January, but I was wondering if that is the beginning or end of Jan, or even if that's correct at all. |
