Hi All,
I'm in search of some neat Business English training materials on such topics as customer service, hotel English, and cultural differences?
Does anyone have any ready made materials that are teacher friendly and high quality?
In return i can swap you some of my excellent training material.

Dear Sinobear,
Thanks for your e-mail.
What i had in mind was more on the content used in training programs.
I don't have the time to create new things so much these days.
I would rather get my hands on the STUFF , the workshop kind of training materials, that are ready to go.
What i can do in return is return that favor 10 fold.
That's right provide 10X the amount of corporate training material that someone can provide me that is QUALITY, USER FRIENDLY and READY to be DELIVERED.
What can i provide in return? Too numerous to explain here. I will make a catalog and place it on my website. So keep watching the website as it evolves. I have 80 GB of training materials, so there is a good chance I can get FT's what they need. Business English 36 different subjects.
English language structure, usage, business functions, telephoning, reading and writing (200 hours of training materials). The online material above is quite academic. I will also publish a sample on my website to view.
*If you need something specific let me know and Ill see what I can do.

Dear FT's,
I am in need of pronunciation training materials for university level students, at the low intermediate - intermediate level.
Can anyone assist?
If you can, i will reward you with 10X that amount in corporate training materials.

Hi Mitch,
I believe you need to make a thorough analysis of your students' problems and not just follow some course book.
Why?
The Chinese have some unique problems with pronunciation that stem from the novelty of phonemes not readily found in their own language.
I also suspect that Chinese characters and their phonetic rendering interfere with their English enunciation as can be seen by the high incidence of schwas and how they pronounce the names of western brands such as McDonald's or Coca Cola.
I once used a nice coursebook called "Step by Step" (I can provide more information on request) with normal college students; the book was pretty cheap but quite comprehensive.
However, personally I favour going a little deeper and explaining to students features of the English language that cannot be found in Step by Step - for example the lenght of syllables (since Chinese doesn't have short and long vowels). |

I'll be hunting off-and-on for you while I'm here in Houston. Every once in a while there are conventions about the hospitality industry with all kinds of free samples of prototype training materials. I'll see what I can do. No promises but I'll put forth the effort. Fair enough?
An edit to my post.
Mitch, I have some materials from Spanish courses about phonics along with some "Hooked On Phonics" materials. They're all on CD. I'll have to go hunting for them to be sure they weren't donated during the last culling of our junk this past weekend. Would that help? I'm not sure how to best help your quest at this point. Please PM or e-mail me with more specifics so I can narrow my searches. This is rather broad. I'm afraid I may turn up irrelevant materials for you unwittingly. |
