Any suggestions on keeping a male 10-yr-old 1-on-1 interested? Girls are easy. But a boy that young???

Activities connected with his interests.
So first: find out what really gets him going, and then expand on this using the Internet. Share using the Internet with him and show him how he can develop both the use of the Internet and of his interests, whatever they may be. Tell his parents first though and also tell them that you can put a "lock" on certain web topics. If you are doing a private, he MUST have access to it in the home.

You haven't told anything about the boy himself; I doubt there is a single topic or approach that suits all kids his age.
Is the boy voluntarily in your class?

What interests (if any) does he have?

To give you an example: I see a 13-year old regularly, have been seeing him since he was 12. Before me, this boy saw an U.S> American teacher who gave up on him after one month - he was at that time 11 years old.
She gave up because she felt she had nothing to offer while the boy controlled the lessons.

The boy has unusual interests such as classical music (!) and insects; he can go on a free talk about any of these special interests and you will never have to stop him except at the end of your time...

Through this student I also learn a bit about his classes; his teacher insists that students read aloud every single morning a week for at least half an hour - just to kill time; in the evening he has homework to do for at least 2 hours. DUring the present holidays he has to work on phys9ics, maths, Chinese, ENglish, geography, history and even political study...so much so that he has no holidays whatever.

He still insists on seeing me during these days!
