Insurance
Ever think about it?
Dose yours cover evacuation to Singapore, or pay 50 juta for a local operation?

What will you do, what will you do?

Insurance is a tricky thing in these places. I remember when I was working for Bell International in Shanghai, we had insurance which only permitted us to use certain hospitals, and it only covered us for certain things. We had a company representative come to the school to explain the policy - lots of words for nothing. It looked great on paper, but if you had a problem that wasn't specifically covered, or you didn't follow exact procedure, forget it.

BTW - the hospital they recommended was unbelievable; blood on the floor & yellow 'white' coats, everything was filthy.

Very different to BUPA cover offered by Bell in Thailand!

I once applied for a job with a company which did not provide medical (another member of this forum was workng there at the time).

I have heard several good stories about EF (Surabaya) actually paying out of their own pockets for treatments for their teachers. I wonder if there are any such Jakarta EF stories?

My current insurance is very good for hospitalization BUT very poor regarding out-patient. Fortunately, I have a friend (Indonesian citizen) who works for a European company, so if I need anything, she claims it for me.
