Hi. I am considering teaching in China and have been looking at this agency. They seem to provide a good service and I quite like the idea of being able to see a few schools before actually signing a contract. Does anyone have any feedback on these guys? If so, much appreciated. Cheers.

Euan,

New Times has been dealt with repeatedly and repeatedly and repeatedly on this Board. There is a great deal of information about it. Please use the search function, enter "New Times" and I think that you will find what you are looking for.

I don't mean to sound cross but everyone is really kind and helpful around here but sometimes it isn't necessary to reinvent the wheel one more time.

Once you have read everything that has been written around here about New Times, please come back with more specific questions.

All the best,

HFG

I don't know what's going on, but somehow a search on "new time" and "new times" returns "No topics or posts met your search criteria", even if the search option is set to "Search for any terms or use query as entered" instead of "Search for all terms".

Cheers for the links nolefan- had read one already but not the other two. A search with the terms 'New Times' does indeed prove fruitless. HFG I'm sorry to 'reinvent the wheel' again but I wasn't actually aware it had been invented yet- I'm new to this board. I don't have any more specific questions to ask as I am aware of what services they offer, was just looking for people's experiences with them thats all. Thanks for the feedback. E

@ euan: no worries, mate.

I'd give you more info but I am a bit biased (in a good way) towards New Times, I've known and worked with them for over two years. better read it all for yourself and make up your own mind.

Not meaning to hijack, but why is the search function so crappy? And, if anyone (say HFG) knows the "secrets" of navigating, perhaps they'd care to share it with the rest of us. I've done a search periodically and always yielded about a thousand threads, none really what I was searching for in the first place. A sticky perhaps from Dave or one of the moderators? "How To Use and Utilize the Search Function". I vote for it - - anyone else?

It always sounds off to tell someone to use the search function instead of asking a question that has already been asked a hundred times before, but honestly they would get more information from doing a search and then asking specific questions. Let's hope that we see more of this in the future.

One key to searching that I have found is simple and easy. Use quotes. Instead of searching for New Times which will turn up every thread with the word 'new' and/or the word 'times' in it, enclose your search phrase in quotes and you will only get threads that have both of those words exactly as you are searching for i.e. "New Times". I know that this is a fundamental search technique but I am amazed by how many people don't know it.

Also starting with a longer phrase and then making it shorter can be a good way of getting targetted information e.g "New times international" agent in china, then remove words until you are down to "New Time"

Hope this helps.

Dear Clark,

Thank you for understanding what I meant. And your information on the search function is absolutely accurate.

All the best,

HFG
