A friend and I are considering teaching in Japan for a while and we have the following questions:
She will have a masters degree in education with three years teaching abroad.
I will have a bachelors degree (in International Relations) with two years teaching abroad and another year teaching ESL at home.
We will both finish our degrees this summer and will be available to begin work in the fall.
We have heard a lot about the JET program and are wondering if it is a good way to go. How long does this application process normally take? What kind of job offers/salary should we expect? What does the school calendar look like- what are our options as far as being able to begin teaching? What age range might we be expected to teach? Will it be mostly older students or do some people teach those as young as kindergarten students? Any advice at all?
We are both really excited and look forward to your responses. Thanks.

Have a look at the FAQ part 2 sticky for JET's website. Also you could try http://www.bigdaikon.com/ if you want to speak to people on JET now, although many of the people on there are unlikely to be much help. |
