| I just picked up my non immigrant visa in Australia today and the woman in the office gave me some interesting advice. She said that if you do a visa run before your visa runs out.. that they will restamp your passport and you get an added 90 days. Once they run out and you renew, then your using your next allowed 90 days... hmm hard to explain. I asked her three times to see if I had it right. Anyone else heard that advise? If this doesn't make sense, pm me haha.. |

Hi gypsywoman,
I am about to go to thailand. I'd like to get the non-immigrant visa. The Thailand Lonely Planet book says it is easy to get, as long as you have a good reasons such as business, study, retirement, extended family visits etc. So my question is....was it that easy?
Example, could I go to the consulate and say I plan to stay in Thailand long-term, studying Thai language, Vipassana meditation and other cultural things etc.? Or would I need paperwork to back this up?
Anyhow, the above is true, however I would also like to get a job teaching with a valid work permit. I have a degree and a CELTA, plus 1 and a half years teaching experience with a good reference, and I can read, write and speak Thai at a pre-intermediate level quite well.
So I hope to get a job there, and I know the Non-immigrant visa is the best one to get. But I won't try for it...if simply...I can't.
According to the Lonely Planet, if you bought two back-to-back 'non-immigrant' 90-day visas, when the first expires, leave thailand and come back in on the 2nd one.
The 'non-immigrant-B' visa allows unlimited entries to thailand for one year. You have to leave thailand once every 90 days to keep it valid. It can be extended to a full year, if you get a work permit in the first 90 days. Hope that might help...
Thanks if you can help me out too.
See ya. |
