I'm in the process of doing a direct hire with DCC. I was told that I would start in Feb of next year. First, how painful is the visa process? I've heard it can take quite a long time. Second, I was told that I would be living on a compound called Al-Falook or something like that. Does anyone else at DCC or KFUPM live there? Is it good for children? I have one son who is 4.
When I talked to Mohammed (can't remember his last name) at DCC, he told me that there are 2 compounds and one is for families and the other is for single guys and married couples without children. So, any ideas why they would be wanting me to live at the compund without children?

I'd also like to know what impressions anyone has of DCC and tell me about the students and the materials we would be using.

My question about KFUPM is----how easy is it to get hired over there?
I understand that DCC is not on the same campus as KFUPM---but that they are somehow connected. I applied to both schools and was turned down by KFUPM. I have a Masters, so I thought it wouldn't be a problem to get work there. But I was told that I should consider DCC to get my foot in the door and use it as a stepping stone. Has anyone else done this?
THanks in advance for any replies!

I have heard that it helps if you are a very senior citizen-one of the Bottox set of either gender.

Speaking of children----if you love children, you'll love teaching at DCC--because that is what the students really are. Sure, it says "college" above the doors at the school, but once you enter through those doors--you'll be surrounded by children.
As for the 2 compounds, one reason they may be putting you at Al-Falak is because the other one is full or could even be because your child is very young (but that shouldn't really matter---because one guy was moved over there after he his wife had a baby) or it could possibly be that you are not a muslim and all of the teachers over at the other compund are muslims! Hope this helps!!!
