G'days,

I've already asked gypsywoman about this on her thread, however if anyone else has any ideas, thanks if you can let me know.

I am about to go to thailand. I'd like to get the non-immigrant visa. The Thailand Lonely Planet book says it is easy to get, as long as you have good reasons such as business, study, retirement, extended family visits etc. So my question is......is it that easy? Or do I simply have to settle for the 60-day tourist visa for now?

Example, could I go to the consulate and say I plan to stay in Thailand long-term, studying Thai language, Vipassana meditation and other cultural things etc.? Or would I need paperwork to back this up?

Anyhow, the above is true, however I would also like to get a job teaching with a valid work permit. I have a degree and a CELTA, plus 1 and a half years teaching experience with a good reference, and I can read, write and speak Thai at a pre-intermediate level quite well.

So I hope to get a job there, and I know the Non-immigrant visa is the best one to get. But I won't try for it...if simply...I can't.

See ya. Thanks if you have any suggestions.

-Jezza
