|

Autumn is upon us and winter is sneaking in fast! Winter in Japan can be a miserable experience -- the inverse of summer in that only one room of the house at a time is at the right temperature and you freeze yer goolies off! Last year, a JET friend of mine had to store her contact lenses in her fridge all winter, otherwise if she left them out in her apartment they would freeze! Let's face it, kerosene heaters suck and everything is gray and BLAH!
BUT.... Because this is a Friday silliness thread, your task is to name at least 5 things you are looking forward to this winter.
Here's mine:
1) Spending many hours in the onsen -- especially outside...
2) Going skiing again
3) Cooking up some nice turkey for Thanksgiving and Christmas
4) Sitting at the pub, warming myself up with some nice, hot grog!
5) Trying to finally get my Night Elf to level 60 in WoW....
Anyhoo, enjoy your weekend, everyone. The weather forecast looks good (at least if you live anywhere in Kanto)... So get outside and enjoy your autumn while you still can! |

5) Waiting for summer
4) getting in a nice hot onsen
3) waiting for summer
2) Sleeping with my girlfriend all day and night under my thick blanket
And my most favorite activity to do this winter is wait for summer!!!!! |

2. drinking shochu and sake with meals and whiskey, brandy and wine at other times
3. wearing jumpers, suits, leather jackets (I've lived most of my life in the tropics so they still are a novelty).

1.) Rotemburo. Completely hate the onsen experience unless its
outdoors and snowing.
2.) Laughing at all the little schoolgirls who still need to wear their
miniskirts
3.) No longer sweating buckets merely waking up and making breakfast.
4.) Any and all form of Nabe.
5.) Spending cold winter nights huddled by my heater reading the
dictionary in a futile attmept to avoid making a spelling
mistake and incurring the wrath of Canuck. He's ALWAYS watching
ya know. |

Sigh. I don't live in Japan anymore, but after 12 months of summer here in Peru (at times so bad that 3 seconds after taking a shower I felt like I needed to shower again... yuck!) I miss winter!
1) snowboarding
2) relaxing in my favorite onsen, which had a view of my favorite snowboarding resort
3) the sound and feeling of snow under my shoes; the views of all of the buildings, trees, etc. covered in a white blanket
4) buying hot tea from vending machines
5) shoveling my sidewalk and driveway--it's great exercise, and I thought of it as another way to play in the snow

My favourite seasonING is definitely basil. Apart from being a founding member of that beautiful thing known as pesto, it can go well with all forms of meats. I especially like it with chicken.
