Hi,
Sorry ahead of time for any grammar\keyboard malfunctions-Im having a hard time with this keyboard. Anyway, Im in Tokyo until thursday to get an E2 korean work visa. I,d like to see tokyo and maybe meet some people\ have some fun, etc.. I,m staying at the olympic inn hotel by the abazu juban station off of the Oedo line but can travel anywhere on the subway. I have no idea about tokyo as I don,t have a guidebook so I was wondering if anyone had any sincere suggestions about where to go to walk and see the city, have a drink, etc...I,d really appreciate it. Thanks!
Christopher

Just a few quick Oedo line suggestions ...

Take the Oedo line train to TOCHOMAE station and go to the top of the Tokyo Metropolitan Govt. Building. It's free and you can enjoy a great view of Tokyo. While you're there, have a look around Nishi Shinjuku/Shinjuku and have lunch on the top floor of one of the sky scraper buildings.

Further along the Oedo line at TOSHIMAEN station, you can go to a really nice hot spring. It's great weather now as it's not too hot and it's a fantastic hot spring. It's called NIWA NO YU. Spend the whole day there just relaxing.

Going back the other way along the Oedo line, you can go to UENO HIROKOJI. There's a big park there and lots of museums (if that's your thing).

While you're in Ueno, take the Ginza line from there to ASAKUSA ... A great traditonal area with a nice temple. Great to get a fell for "old Tokyo".

And of course you're not far from Roppongi ... Home to Japan's foreign night clubbing population ...again if that's your thing.

Hope this helps.

Hey great suggestions. I really really appreciate it. Today was turned out to be very nice. But my feet hurt. I started in Shinjuku and made my way to Shinjuku park which turned out is closed on monday. After consulting my tourist map I figured out that a lot of parks, and the inlying attractions, are closed on Monday. But I took a chance and tried Yoyogi park which was open and had a nice time walking around it. Then found the shopping district near in Harajuku which was ok for people watching. So I`m not sure what I`ll do tonight but maybe I`ll try Roppongi if its not too cheesy.(When I hear of club `districts` I tend to cringe- but I`m open minded) I`m just a social drinker but like billiards, open mics, and/or live music(generally indie, punk、folk, noise rock, etc...) so if anyone knows of any foreigner friendly places along those lines, please feel free to share. I can`t wait to try out your above suggestions tomorrow. thanks again
