From what I understand, it isn't legal, but it is quite common.
However, the people who will cash your check have to make contact with you via a reference, so you'll need to know someone that knows someone. Also, take care yourself, that you trust your own contact. |

Let me add that if you are buying property, then the proper channels are the best way, to avoid potential problems with the authorities. They say they are going to start cracking down on property bought with money that didn't come into the country legally. The proper channel is to Wire transfer the funds into your own bank account in Argentina. Granted, this may be as hard as you might imagine... You've got to open a bank account, which may be difficult depending upon your visa status, and you have to do a wire transfer. Also, if you are not a resident, then you'll have to prove you are buying property, and . See other posts/sites for info on that, its a long discussion. If you aren't buying property, then your options are:
1. ATM Withdrawals.
2. Bring cash on the plane. But I wouldn't bring too much, for security...
3. Use one of the agencies I was talking about, that will cash your check.
4. There may be a forth option, of an agency that will cash your check, but they are actually legal. I'm not certain about this. |
