If you work for the full 25 years in a national university, become eligable for the pension and retire. Does anybody know what the rate is, and whether you can collect it even if you choose upon retirement to relocate to another country? For example, in the Uk if you leave the country your pension is frozen at the level at the time of your leaving. A real drawback once a few years of inflation takes effect. |

From what I understand, you are bale to make contributions even if you leave the country, and you would be able to collect. Also, due to a new law, if you're American, you can decide to collect from the US rather than Japan through their system, whcih is something I am considering doing (rather than collecting from both, I'll choose one). |
