hello!
I am currently living and working in Xinjiang China, but really keen to move to Istanbul and teach in Turkey.
My major problem is that I am broke, have a rather large credit card bill that I need to make regular payments on, is it relatively easy to save back a bit each month living in Turkey? I do enjoy going out and stuff and would be miserable if I had to stay in and save all the time!
Also is it possible to find work from outside Turkey at all times of the year? Is it really difficult to find work during the summer months?
Also, how much would I be looking at earning? I have a CELTA and 1 years experience.
Thanks for your time......................
Ps i hear that turkish men are gorgous - is this true?? |

Most jobs in Turkey pay around $1000 to $1500 U.S. per month.
Many teachers are able to save about 25% of their earnings....with some introverted individuals able to save 50% or more......but they eat a lot of 'fasulye' (beans) and don't hit the hot spots.
Look at the location where you go to in Turkey, as different areas have very different costs of living, with Istanbul, obviously, being much more expensive. If you go to the regional areas to the East, and places like Kayseri, costs will be much lower, but some teachers find the culture and night life to be wanting.
One assumes you have minimum B.A. and T.E.F.L. Certificate, and if you are young and personable, your best bet is to simply show up in Turkey and job visit the schools. You will be sure to get work this way.
